What Are Fortune-Telling Systems?
Fortune-telling systems are not one formally standardized academic field. The term broadly covers traditional theories, rules, and methods. In Bazi, stems, branches, elements, Ten Gods, Luck Pillars, and annual influences belong to this framework. Fortune telling performs an interpretation; the system is the method behind it.
What Is Divination?
Divination usually addresses a specific question or immediate situation, such as whether a partnership may go smoothly or whether this is a suitable time for a decision. Examples include I Ching divination, Liu Yao, Plum Blossom Numerology, and Tarot.
Unlike Bazi, which builds a relatively fixed chart from birth information, divination often depends on the time of the question, a random result, or a particular method of generating a reading.
